Band of The Month

The band of this month is Forteresse with their debut album, Métal Noir Québécois. Now Forteresse are one of my favorite bands, seriously. Forteresse are one of those bands I found and immediately had the NEED to buy their discography and their Limited Edition Ancienne Voix shirt. If that doesn't spell out fucking amazing, then I don't know what does. Now to the music, Forteresse have 2 albums for different moods. Métal Noir Québécois is a mid-paced album with fantastic riffing that has such melodies creating a glorious atmosphere filled with patriotic Canadian majesty, with quiet, but fast drumming to pitch into that atmosphere, the vocals are fairly well done. My favorite part of Métal Noir Québécois is the violin recordings of Canada's finest violinists. Fun and great album. Les Hivers De Notre Époque is a more depressing style of Black Metal, Forteresse really made a change in this album. The production is a bit better and the music is a lot more slow with a some depression thrown in there, by that I don't mean this is DSBM, because it isn't. I can't really describe the album too well since I haven't listened to it much. Overall fantastic band, extremely recommended for the fans of mid-paced and heavily atmospheric Black Metal.
